It’s a wrap – the year 2017 at CompanyMatch
Published on 29-12-2017
It’s becoming a CompanyMatch tradition to look back at the year that was. With 2017 being a wrap for the CompanyMatch team this blog post is about sharing some of our highlights of the past year with you!
Also in 2017, the subject cultural fit remained high on the agenda of every HR director, employer brand and recruiting manager. That, of course, is very encouraging and drives us to continue to explore all areas of employer branding, cultural fit and recruitment marketing. Together!
In total, we published 71 blog posts about the topics cultural fit, company culture, employer branding and recruitment this year. Our CEO Bjorn Veenstra stumbled across this motivational quote on his latest business trip to London. We intend to do just that and look forward the challenges, opportunities and experiences 2018 will bring!
Looking back – The highlights of 2017
1. CompanyMatch released a new White Paper called ‘The true costs of a bad hire’
A great workforce is every organisation’s capital. A bad hire therefore not only generates enormous costs, in the region of 50,000 euros or pound sterling per candidate, but also has a negative impact on the productivity and efficiency of the whole company. But what exactly is a bad hire and what are the true costs of it? Even more important: How can we avoid a bad hire? This year, CompanyMatch released a white paper answering those and other questions, based on recent scientific research. You will find the download link at the end of this article. In addition, our White Paper about Cultural Fit in Recruitment was released in English.
2. We launched our expert interviews series with innogy, Vodafone, Manpower
In September we launched our expert interview series. We discussed the importance of the candidate experience with Anja Bank, Employer Brand Manager at Vodafone, and talked about the onboarding process of innogy with HR expert Sebastian Hopp.
CompanyMatch enables us to communicate Vodafone’s values and working structure to applicants in an early stage. That is often impossible with a simple job ad. – Anja Bank, Vodafone
Our latest interview with Stephan Rathgeber, Corporate Communications & Digital at the ManpowerGroup Germany, revolved around the importance of employer branding. Rathgeber provided us with helpful tips and tricks to integrate a successful employer branding strategy that reflects your company’s culture.
It is crucial to consider all different sorts of touch points your employer brand might have with job seekers and possible future employees, and communicate its goals in a consistent way. – Stephan Rathgeber
3. CompanyMatch opens London office
In February 2017 we opened the doors of our new office in the British capital to service our existing UK clients better and facilitate growth. According to our CEO Bjorn Veenstra it was just about time: “Companies that focus on Cultural Fit are becoming icons for job seekers. Assessing Cultural Fit in recruitment is becoming increasingly important for sourcing and employer branding strategies. It is a top 3 priority for CEO’s to attract the best talent to grow their businesses. CompanyMatch already provides solutions to over 400 companies in Europe. With offices already in the Netherlands, our HQ, and Germany, it was the right time to open a London office”.
4. CompanyMatch got selected TOP15 Scale Up at The Next Web Conference
Who could describe this event better than CompanyMatch founder and CEO Bjorn Veenstra: “CompanyMatch was part of TNW being selected for the Scale programme which focusses on 50 scale-ups that already have significant international traction in the market. As a team we were tremendously proud to be in the spotlight at the biggest Tech Festival in Europe. We were able to showcase CompanyMatch to the international press, investors, companies and visitors. This past year we have grown our HRtech business significantly and expanded into new markets. With over 21 appointments and a crowded booth TNW was very successful for CompanyMatch.”

5. CompanyMatch wins a Gazelle Award
We are incredibly proud! CompanyMatch won a FD Gazelle Award in the category ‘turnover up to one million euro’. CompanyMatch (Werken bij Merken bv) is one of the fastest growing companies in the Netherlands in a category that has achieved an average growth of 136% over the past three years. The annual FD Gazelle Awards is an initiative of Financieele Dagblad, the leading Dutch financial newspaper. Winning the award was a great reward for all the hard work we put into the company during 2017 and a even greater motivation to keep up the work in the upcoming year!
6. 2017 – The year of events
We actively participated in and sponsored a lot of very interesting events varying from HR Failure Night, HRtech, Recruitment Tech, Corporate Culture Camp, Zukunft personal. The most in our history and we traveled to more than 25 cities in Europe by train, metro, car, plane and bike!
What a great year! The CompanyMatch team is motivated to make 2018 even better. But for now, we wish you all a fantastic festive season and a happy, healthy start to the New Year!
